Will you pledge to vote for Giselle?

Giselle knows the struggles of working class people and immigrants in Newburgh.

She grew up in a working class immigrant family and is a first-generation American herself. Her father worked as a dishwasher, farmworker, and welder, and her mother worked in factories and cleaned houses.

The Issues

Affordable Housing

Giselle will make sure the lives and homes of Black and brown families are put before developers. She supports mixed supportive housing, increasing homeownership for residents, and wants to initiate programs where developers must set aside a certain percentage of housing units for affordable housing.

Immigration

Giselle fully supports Newburgh’s status as a sanctuary city and the city’s approval of municipal ID’s and the state’s approval of drivers licenses for undocumented people. She wants to introduce legislation to allow non-citizens, who contribute so much to our communities and local economies, the right to vote in local elections.

Criminal Justice

Giselle will work to ensure we prioritize public health over punishment. That means investing in mental health services and programs that aid in substance abuse. She will also work with and advocate for restorative justice programs. She will also tackle racial inequities that manifest in our criminal justice and policing system as a whole, not just with one-off legislation.

Giselle is the only candidate working to better the city for all residents of Newburgh, especially Black and brown families who have been deeply affected by gentrification and housing displacement.
